Towa Bird Drops Cheeky New Banger, ‘B.I.L.L.S.’

By  |

Today, acclaimed singer/songwriter/guitarist Towa Bird shared her new single “B.I.L.L.S.”

She wrote the explosive, anthemic track with Luke Niccoli (Gwen Stefani, Max Leone), who also produced, and singer-songwriter Livvi Franc.

“With the world being more expensive than ever before, ‘B.I.L.L.S.’ is my commentary on a very visceral feeling my generation is having. Unfortunately, Gen Z is enduring the brunt of the economic harshness,” explains Towa Bird. “I wanted to channel those fears, hardship, and reality into a song.  This is my favorite song to play live because the energy is infectious and escapist, but the message is resonant with so many people. Write those feelings into a cheeky little banger? I think yes.”

A live version of the fan favorite is found on her late 2023 EP Live from Terminal 5 (Interscope Records). Live from Terminal 5 was recorded during Towa’s crowd-thrilling stint as support for Reneé Rapp’s 2023 U.S. tour. She’ll be joining Rapp on her upcoming U.K. dates. See below for the itinerary.

Along with dramatically expanding Towa’s fanbase across North America, the Hong Kong-born artist’s opening slot on the 2023 tour drew major raves.

ABOUT TOWA BIRD:

A half-Filipino, half-English artist who spent much of her childhood in Thailand and London, Towa first started playing guitar at the age of 12, honing her technique by strumming along to The Kinks, The Who, and other bands she discovered through her father’s record collection. After forming her first band at age 14, she cut her teeth playing dive bars and street festivals in Hong Kong, then went on to study at Goldsmiths, University of London. Naming Jimi Hendrix, Joan Jett, and Prince among her longtime inspirations, Towa dropped out of school after two years to pursue her love of music and got her start producing and co-writing for other artists, in addition to posting videos that found her soloing over hip-hop, pop, and R&B songs. As her singular guitar style gained attention across the globe, Towa began sharing original music and soon after inked her deal with Interscope Records. Towa’s music offers an intimate exploration of queerness, identity, and the complexities of love.
