All-Star Artists Perform Marvin Gaye Tribute at 2021 Grammys

The official 2021 Grammys celebrations kicked off with a bang with a collaborative Marvin Gaye tribute. The collaboration took place virtually with impressive graphics.

The special collaborative performance marked the 50th anniversary of the classic Marvin Gaye track “Mercy, Mercy Me (The Ecology).” Cheche Alara produced and arranged the performance.

The special kick-off featured a cast of nominees. Afro-Peruvian Jazz Orchestra, Thana Alexa, John Beasley, Camilo, Regina Carter, Alexandre Desplat, Bebel Gilberto, Lupita Infante, Sarah Jarosz, Mykal Kilgore, Ledisi, Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez, PJ Morton, Gregory Porter, Grace Potter, Säje, Gustavo Santaolalla (Bajofondo), Anoushka Shankar, and Kamasi Washington all took the stage.

All About The Grammys

The 2021 Grammy Awards aired live on CBS and Paramount+ on March 14, two months after the original show’s air date. The Recording Academy chose to delay the ceremony due to the pandemic. The show itself took place at the Staples Center and surrounding buildings in Los Angeles, California.

Fans will be given access to exclusive content with GRAMMY Live. The backstage and behind the scenes content is available internationally on GRAMMY.com and via Facebook Live. GRAMMY Live will broadcast all day.
