Dan + Shay Show Chicago Off

By: Gabbie Brown

A lot can happen when your show is 21+ and the parents and little kiddies have gone to bed. The legendary Joe’s Bar quickly turned into an 80’s rock show with a touch of twang when country duo, Dan + Shay took the stage at 12 am Sunday morning. We appreciated the tribute to Guns ‘N’ Roses, which kick the night off on a high note. Little did we know that the swoon worthy gents had been all over the city since 8 am performing. The lack of sleep sure didn’t phase their vocals or stage presences.

You can bet all the traditional crowd favorites were played off their debut record, Where It All Began. ‘Party Girl’, ‘First Time Feeling’, ‘Stop Drop and Roll’, ‘19 You + Me' and the latest single, 'Show You Off’, were all being belted, not only by the guys, but often times overshadowing the duo. Man, does Chicago know their Dan + Shay songs. Dan and Shay both acknowledge the large sing-back volume several times throughout the show.

Andrew McMahon Announcement and Single!

By: Ally Marcus

Andrew McMahon fans rejoice! Our favorite singer/songwriter is back at it again, this time under the moniker Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. Fans have been on quite the journey with Andrew since 2001 when Something Corporate released their first official EP, through the mid-2000s and Jack’s Mannequin, his cancer and Dear Jack, the retirement of the Jack’s Mannequin name and the release of the Pop Underground, and finally the present. It doesn’t matter whether you have been there from the beginning or you are just now discovering Andrew’s music, we are all invited to go into the wilderness and share this next part of the journey as friends, family and fans.

Two very exciting things have happened within the past few days. First, Andrew has released his first single under the name Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. It, in part, tells his story from the time he started to play music until now, and it is, in part, a letter to his newborn daughter. It is called “Cecilia and the Satellite” and it is one of the most beautiful and touching songs I have ever heard.

Second, today he announced headlining fall tour dates! They are listed for you below:

10/14 - San Diego, CA @ House of Blues

10/15 - Los Angeles, CA @ The Fonda Theatre

10/17 - San Francisco, CA @ Slim’s

10/18 - San Francisco, CA @ The Independent

10/20 - Vancouver, BC @ Rio Theatre

10/29 - Minneapolis, MN @ First Avenue

10/31 - Chicago, IL @ Vic Theatre

11/5 - Toronto, ON @ Opera House

11/22 - Nashville, TN @ 3rd & Lidsley

Mozez On Tour!

By: Claire Louise

Now, soul music may not be the music we’d typically cover, but there is absolutely no harm in diversifying. Benefiting from a range of different influences is what makes music – all music – so great. Enter Mozez. This guy is well known internationally in the soul scene, in thanks partly to his long stint with the group Zero 7. He’s gone solo now though; and whilst he’s basking in all of the creative freedom that this entails, he’s still got time to tour with live with the highly respected Nightmares on Wax. This summer also brings a long awaited five-track EP release, entitled ‘A Place Called Home’, but just where home is exactly remains a mystery right now since he’s booked in for so many different slots around the world!

A showcase performance in New York City earlier in July marked the British artist’s first solo performance on American soil, but you haven’t entirely missed out just yet. He’s still got a small stretch of the lengthy tour with the aforementioned Nightmares on Wax, and you can see the dates below. You can also check out Mozez’ Website for more info, and for dates in more exotic places like Ibiza, if you’re lucky enough to be heading out there!

July USA Tour (Remaining Dates)

18th - Forecastle Festival, Louisville, KY

19th - Georgia Theatre, Athens, GA

20th - Terminal West, Atlanta, GA

21st - Grand Central, Miami, FL
